Postdoctoral Research Fellow -Neurodevelopmental Epigenetics
Full time, 3 year fixed term. Closing date: 18 September 2019 at 5pm.
To apply visit www.vacancies.ed.ac.uk and enter reference 049016.
We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic research fellow to join the laboratory of Dr Rob Illingworth to investigate the epigenetic basis of mammalian neurodevelopment.
The post will focus on understanding how epigenetic modifiers control the balance between neural stem cell expansion and differentiation and, in so doing, to ensure the correct size and cellular composition of the developing mammalian brain. The primary focus will be to investigate how polycomb co-repressor complexes are adapted to regulate gene expression during neurodevelopment. The project will utilise a combination of genome and epigenome editing experiments in conjunction with proteomic analysis performed in cell based systems. These approaches will be complemented by strong links with both molecular and computational approaches within Dr Illingworth’s laboratory.
Candidates who have been awarded, or are soon to be awarded, a PhD in a relevant discipline and have experience with a broad range of molecular biology approaches are invited to apply.
